Something that's been helping me a lot in the first months of pregnancy is the Baby Layette Spreadsheet. I had no knowledge about pregnancy in general, I had no idea what would be needed when the baby was born, let alone the quantity of each of those items. A friend of mine, Dri, shared with me the spreadsheet she used when she was pregnant, and my husband and I made the necessary adjustments for our reality. This gave us a direction to start organizing the house and our lives for the arrival of the new family member :)
Now, in addition to knowing what furniture, clothes, and other accessories we'll need, we can also visualize the expenses for purchases and avoid duplicate items.
When I showed how I'm organizing myself during pregnancy in my Stories, many people asked me to share the spreadsheet. I think the spreadsheet itself is a bit personal; everyone has a different lifestyle and budget. That's why I made a cleaner, more flexible version, where you can add or remove items you won't want to use.

I divided the spreadsheet into four tabs:
1) Layette
Here's a list of items that will likely be needed in the child's first year of life. It's a great space to note estimated expenses, highlight what has already been purchased, and mark any items you might receive as gifts (here, the grandparents wanted to give gifts, and we gladly accepted them lol).
Remember:
- Review each item and see if it makes sense for you! There are no rules :)
- In the "Value" tab, you can write down what you've already spent or make an estimate
- When an item is settled, you can color the row a different color
2) Clothing Chart
It's good to update this tab whenever you receive a gift or make a purchase. We were lucky enough to receive several used baby clothes from friends, and keeping track by size helps a lot to avoid buying more than necessary.
3) Favorite Links
In this tab, I save everything I've seen online and liked; it's normal to research a thousand things when we're excited. Having the links handy and a price comparison makes the selection process easier!
4) Expenses
I used this tab to document purchases and investments made. This way, it's simple to visualize the total already spent and to avoid spending more than we can afford.

From the moment I started planning expenses and purchases, I felt calmer, more secure, and much less anxious. I hope you feel that way too <3
Now all that's left is to wait for the arrival and jot down memories in my Baby Book!
