In this edition of Megers in Action, our team fulfilled a long-held wish: to watch a film at the Cinemateca Brasileira, home to the largest film collection in Latin America.
Vista Café
Before heading to Cinemateca, we had lunch at Vista Café, located in Ibirapuera, next to the Museum of Contemporary Art of the University of São Paulo (MAC - USP). We had eaten there before, but it had been a long time. In the past, the menu had more snack and dish options, ranging from breakfast to lunch. This time, we noticed that the focus is now on coffee itself.
Our orders included: corn and cream cheese tartlet, pão de queijo, grilled cheese with banana, zucchini sandwich with romanesca sauce, gougére (a type of cheese puff with an omelet-like texture), and roast beef sandwich with arugula.
To drink, we ordered citrus Italian soda and hibiscus tea with orange.
The best part of lunch was dessert: we couldn't resist and had chocolate cake and banoffee pie.
The café is open from Tuesday to Sunday and is pet-friendly (outdoor area only).

After lunch, we took advantage of being at the MAC building and visited an exhibition called "Brazilian Art Deco: a donation by Fulvia and Adolpho Leiner". The displayed items were a mix of furniture, sculptures, tapestries, and posters.
Admission is free and visitation is until September 17, 2023.

Varilux French Film Festival at Cinemateca Brasileira
The Cinemateca Brasileira hosted the Varilux Festival from June 21 to July 6, 2022. This festival (created in 2010 by Unifrance with the support of the French Embassy in Brazil and the Delegation of French Alliances) showcases current French films and shorts.
In September there was a rerun, so we took the opportunity to experience the festival and Cinemateca's cinema.
We watched the film "The World of Yesterday", a political drama released in 2022.
It's worth visiting Cinemateca to stroll through the beautiful gardens and also to see the collection, which has more than 40,000 titles (including textual, photographic, and iconographic materials).
